Georgetown, TX was founded in 1848 and named after George Washington Glasscock, who donated the land for the new town. The city grew rapidly in the late 19th century, thanks to its location on the Chisholm Trail, which brought cattle drives through the area. In the early 20th century, Georgetown became a center for education, with the establishment of Southwestern University and several public schools. Today, Georgetown is a thriving city, known for its historic downtown district, excellent schools, and natural beauty, including the nearby Blue Hole swimming area and San Gabriel River.
