Leander, TX was founded in the late 19th century, and named for Leander "Catfish" Brown, a railroad official who helped bring the railroad to the area. The town grew slowly in its early years, but experienced a population boom in the late 20th century, as the nearby city of Austin expanded and more people moved to the area. Today, Leander is a vibrant city with a diverse population, known for its excellent schools, strong sense of community, and natural beauty, including the nearby Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge and Lake Travis.
